A 1975 short film entitled "The Hat Act" is presented. An itinerant magician appears in a midwestern town and takes as an apprentice a young man from a poor background and teaches him all of his tricks. The young man uses this knowledge to steal money and the magician returns causing the young man to have a dramatic change of heart. Winner of the 1976 Bronze Hugo Award at Chicago International Film Festival.
